Shore Hotel – Santa Monica

The Shore Hotel is a beachfront hotel located on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, California. The eco-conscious accommodations are fresh, contemporary, and LEED Gold certified. Featuring energy-efficient lighting and furnishings made with sustainably sourced materials, the minimalist rooms offer free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and private patios or balconies (some with ocean views).

We’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Shore Hotel twice, first with Volvo for their XC90 launch, and then with Scion for the launch of the iA and iM. Oddly, both of our recent visits were to the same room, with a view from the balcony that features the world-famous Santa Monica Pier.

While we greatly enjoyed the incredible location and spectacular view, it’s important to note that the oceanfront view does come with the paradise shattering noise pollution of Ocean Avenue. The weather was ideal, and we would have loved to have kept our sliding glass door open all night, but the bustle of traffic down below really ruins that Eco-concious beach vibe.

So our view for much of our stay resembled the photo above, with the slider closed and cars constantly passing by. The good news is that the glass is very thick, and with the door closed the traffic noise fades away so that you can enjoy the luxurious experience offered by the Shore Hotel.

The Shore Hotel is located within walking distance to downtown Santa Monica and the Pier, and boasts 164 guest rooms, including 20 suites. Amenities include a 24-hour gym and a heated outdoor pool with hot tub in an open-air atrium. We also enjoyed a meal at Blue Plate Taco, a casual on-site restaurant serving Mexican dishes with locally sourced, organic ingredients. Rooms at the Shore Hotel start at $309 per night, and we highly recommend it for your trip to Santa Monica. You won’t be able to hear the waves, but you can still enjoy the view.
