Shark Fishing on Padre Island with a Jeep Gladiator Texas Trail

Here at OffRoadTripz.com, we’re always on the lookout for a new adventure we can have with our off-road vehicles. How does 65 miles of mostly secluded beach sound to you? That’s what you get when you travel to Padre Island National Seashore, near Corpus Christi, Texas. It’s the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world, and it’s available year-round for all of your off-roading, fishing, and camping desires.

We recently traveled to Padre Island with a group from BOLDMEN Adventures, and led them on a fun 20-mile beach drive until we met up with our shark fishing guide. Once we arrived, he showed us his fishing rig, shared with us his experience, and then we waited. Because that’s largely what fishing is, sharing stories and waiting. Unfortunately for us on this cold and windy day, the sharks weren’t willing participants in our afternoon activities. That’s just how it goes sometimes, but all was not lost, because we had another 20-miles of awesome beach driving in-between us and town.

Our ride for this adventure was the Jeep Gladiator Texas Trail, a special edition truck available exclusively in the state of Texas. It’s based on the Gladiator Sport S trim, but then they add some goodies like 17-inch black aluminum wheels, 32-inch mud-terrain tires, side steps, black hard top, and a trailer hitch. To make sure everyone knows that you’re a proud Texan, it also features unique Texas Trail hood and tailgate decals, which include the year 1836 as a nod to the Texas Declaration of Independence. Remember the Alamo!

Jeep Gladiator Texas Trail is available exclusively at dealers in the state of Texas and has a starting MSRP of $42,925. We’ll leave you with a shot of the Texas Trail Gladiator parked in front of “The Blue Ghost”, the USS Lexington aircraft carrier, which is now a floating museum in Corpus Christi.
